Uzbekistan wins Oman in AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019
The Asian Cup is held in the cities of Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Al Ain and Sharjah of the United Arab Emirates.
National teams of 24 countries, divided into 8 groups, are participating in the current Asian Cup competitions for the first time. Uzbekistan under the leadership of head coach Hector Cuper plays in Group F, which also includes teams of Oman, Turkmenistan and Japan.
Odil Ahmedov’s curling first-half free-kick broke the deadlock at Sharjah Stadium. With victory in sight, Uzbekistan were undone by a fast Oman break that saw substitute Muhsen Al Ghassani score to pull his side level in the 72nd minute. Eldor Shomurodov struck five minutes from the end to secure Uzbekistan a 2-1 win over Oman.
On January 13, Uzbekistan national team will hold the next match against the team of Turkmenistan. The game will begin at 21:00 Tashkent time.
The win took Uzbekistan to second in the standings behind Japan, who defeated Turkmenistan 3-2.
