The X International Chess Tournament "Tashkent Open", dedicated to the memory of the first Uzbek grandmaster Georgy Agzamov, started in the capital.

The tournament, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Sport Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Uzbekistan Chess Federation, was attended by 116 chess players from ten countries.

In 2015, our chess players at the international tournaments have won 25 gold, 8 silver and 12 bronze medals.

Our chess players successfully participate in the sport season of this year. At the recent Asian Championship among juniors at the age of 6-18 years held in Mongolia, our chess players won 4 gold, 3 silver and 2 bronze medals. At the Asian Nations Chess Cup in Abu Dhabi (UAE), Women’s National Chess team of Uzbekistan won the silver medal in standard and rapid chess competitions.

The International tournament "Tashkent Open", regularly conducted since 2007, contributes to the popularization of chess, enhancing the international experience of our sportsmen, and provides foreign chess players with the opportunity to familiarize with capabilities and the potential of the Uzbek chess school.

This year, the chess players such as Marat Dzhumaev, Alexei Barsov, Jurabek Hamrokulov, Nodirbek Abdusattorov, Jahongir Vohidov, Nodirbek Yokubboev, Shamsiddin Vohidov, Sarvinoz Kurbonboeva, Gulruhbegim Tohirjonova, Bahora Abdusattorova and many other young talented players represent our country at the international tournament.
