Tashkent hosted International Kurash Tournament
Tashkent hosted International Kurash Tournament for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It was attended by athletes from 40 countries of the world in absolute weight categories.
The prize fund of the prestigious tournament, organized by the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Tashkent city khokimiyat, National Olympic Committee, International Kurash Association and Uzbekistan Kurash Federation jointly with a number of state and public organizations, is 100 thousand USD.
On September 6, the opening ceremony of the First International Tournament for the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held at Uzbekistan Sports Complex.
Chairman of Kurash Federation of Uzbekistan O.Murodov, Acting khokim of the city of Tashkent D.Artykhodjayev and others noted that kurash is increasingly developing and gaining popularity in all continents of the world.
Uzbekistan wrestler Sherali Djurayev won a gold medal and the prize of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan – 50 thousand USD. Another athlete from Uzbekistan, silver medalist Bekmurod Oltiboyev won 25,000 USD. Temur Rakhimov from Tajikistan and Aslam Kambiyev from Russia were awarded with bronze medals. They were awarded with cash prizes in the amount of 10,000 USD. Athletes, who took fifth-eighth places, received 1,250 USD.
