Strongmen Games International Tournament named after Pahlavon Mahmud kicks off in Khiva
On June 8, Ichan Kala fortress hosted the grand opening ceremony of the First International Tournament “Strongmen Games” named after Pahlavon Mahmud.
The tournament brought together athletes from Australia, Brazil, China, Greece, India, Iran, Japan, Latvia, Russia, Ukraine, the United States, Uzbekistan and Central Asian countries. The event was also attended by foreign observers and judges of the tournament, local and foreign media representatives.
Khokim of Khiva district S.Jumaniyazov, Chairman of the World Strongmen Federation (WSF) Vladislav Redkin, winner of Ethnosport Challenge 2018 in Malaysia Jeremy Hogg addressed the opening ceremony of the tournament.
As reported by the Press Service of the State Committee for Tourism Development, during the tournament, meetings with students of sports educational institutions, master classes, demonstration performances of young athletes and recreational sports events will be held.
The event, organized by the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Tourism Development, Khorezm regional khokimiyat, the Ministry of Physical Culture and Sports of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the support of Strongmen Games and Kettlebell Federation of Uzbekistan and World Strongmen Federation is dedicated to the memory of the great son of Uzbek people Pahlavon Mahmud, famous in his time as invincible hero and enlightened poet, philosopher and Sufi.
