Winners of “Elections 2019” video contest awarded
The Development Strategy Center, the International Press Club and the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan held an awarding ceremony for the winners of the Elections 2019 video contest.
The Development Strategy Center, the International Press Club and the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan held an awarding ceremony for the winners of the Elections 2019 video contest.
The ceremony was opened by the Executive Director of the Development Strategy Center Eldor Tulyakov, Chairman of the Board of the National Association of Electronic Mass Media of Uzbekistan Firdavs Abdukhalikov and member of the Central Election Commission, Chairman of the International Press Club Sherzod Kudratkhojayev.
The contest was launched on October 15 this year. Due to the great interest in the contest, the deadline for accepting works was extended by another 10 days, amounting to 40 days.
The contest, the task of which was to prepare creative, effective contemporary videos urging the population, especially young people, to actively participate in the elections and use their constitutional law, was attended not only by qualified media professionals, but also ordinary creativity lovers.
The videos presented at the contest reflect the significance of the slogan “New Uzbekistan – New Elections”, amendments introduced to the electoral law, creation of an electronic database of the voters list, legal provision of the right to participate in the elections to persons deprived of their liberty, opportunities created at polling stations and other innovations.
From October 15 to November 25, 98 participants submitted 180 works to the contest, of which the corresponding timing requirements were put up for online voting. This process was carried out on the official Telegram channel of the Development Strategy Center. The number of the channel visitors was 420 589 people, a total of 85 902 votes were cast.
All videos submitted to the contest were considered by the jury, 30 of them were recommended for broadcast. These videos were shown nationwide on state and non-state television channels.
The jury, formed from among the participants, in an online format determined the winners among the selected videos.
Cash prizes in the amount of 5 to 10 million soums were awarded to winners. 3 winners from among non-professionals were also identified.
