Uzbekistan’s military delegation visits the United States
Military delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Azizbek Ikramov, visits the United States to discuss the development of bilateral contacts in military education, as well as further prospects for cooperation between military educational institutions.
Military delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Deputy Minister of Defense, Major General Azizbek Ikramov, visits the United States to discuss the development of bilateral contacts in military education, as well as further prospects for cooperation between military educational institutions from September 9 to 13, 2019.
According to the Embassy of Uzbekistan in the United States, on September 9, Major General A. Ikramov met with the President of National Defense University, Vice Admiral Fritz Roegge.
At the meeting, mutual interest was noted in establishing cooperation in training senior officers, as well as in the field of military research. The parties exchanged views on a wide range of issues and on possible areas of interaction between the NDU and the Academy of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
The delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan also got acquainted with the University’s infrastructure, the general system of approaches to training military personnel, as well as with the basic principles of curriculum development for individual courses of professional military education.
On the same day, Uzbekistan delegation met with the Director Near East South Asia Center for Strategic Studies, retired Lieutenant General Terry Wolff. The parties noted mutual interest in deepening cooperation on research in the field of regional security.
On September 10, the Uzbek delegation met with Member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Mississippi’s First district Trent Kelly, as well as with the representative of the U.S. Department of Defense, Amer Latif. At the meetings, the parties exchanged views on the current state and possible directions for further development of cooperation.
On September 11-13, the delegation will visit the Army War College in Carlisle, PA.
