Head of Uzbekistan Mission to the European Union, Ambassador Dilyor Khakimov has met with Member of the European Parliament Yana Toom, representing the Renew Europe Group.

The parties exchanged views on the current state and prospects for development of relations between Uzbekistan and the European Union.

Yana Toom expressed satisfaction with consistent development of European – Uzbekistan interaction in the political, trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and other spheres. The friendly character of multifaceted ties, which have recently been gaining positive dynamics, was emphasized.

Special attention was paid to the ongoing negotiations on development of Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement, the obtaining by Uzbekistan of the beneficiary status of EU’s GSP+ system and the country’s accession to the WTO.

The Member of the European Parliament highly appreciated the progress achieved in this process, noting the interest of the European side in their early completion. She also expressed her readiness to support the Uzbek side on these issues.

The parties also emphasized the need for further intensifying cooperation in higher education, in particular within the framework of Erasmus+ and Tempus programs.
