Ambassador of Uzbekistan Kadambay Sultanov visited the headquarters of SunGIS in Latvia’s Vidzeme region. The company specializes in widespread implementation of digital solutions in the urban management system.
Meetings were held with SunGIS managers Pēteris Brūns and Gints Lūkins. The parties discussed practical aspects of Uzbekistan – Latvian partnership in digitalization.
In July, SunGIS won a grant from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Latvia for the implementation in Uzbekistan of the project “Application of Open Technologies in Development of the Geoportal “Electronic GeoFund of Engineering and Technical Measurements of the Republic of Uzbekistan”.
The project provides for the creation of a fully functioning version of the portal of topographic and geospatial data and aims to form a unified cadastral system in Uzbekistan with the possibility of online access to it, ensuring the continuity of services for the construction industry in crisis conditions caused, among other things, by a pandemic.
The company started work on August 1 and plans to present a prototype of the platform by November. Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached on organizing a visit of SunGIS developers to Uzbekistan, as international air traffic resumes, to discuss practical aspects of the project with Uzbekistan partners.
