Uzbekistan, Japan strengthen security cooperation
Tokyo hosted a roundtable discussion on “Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan on strengthening security and ensuring sustainable development in Central Asia”.
On December 16, Tokyo hosted a roundtable discussion on “Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan on strengthening security and ensuring sustainable development in Central Asia”. It was attended by representatives of political and analytical circles of the two countries, experts.
It was noted that the changes in Uzbekistan have become intensive, large-scale reforms are being carried out in all spheres, accelerated development and modernization process will continue.
In their speeches, leading Japanese analysts emphasized that Uzbekistan's new policy deserves special attention. Experts also noted that the new policy in Central Asia initiated by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has included many positive ideas and initiatives in the agenda of the world community, and most importantly, they have already begun to be successfully implemented.
Participants focused on Japan's support for development of good-neighborly relations and economic cooperation in Central Asia. Japan was one of the first to establish a dialogue mechanism “Central Asia – Japan”, which is aimed at strengthening cooperation between the countries of the region in economic, cultural-humanitarian and security spheres.
Following the event, an agreement was reached on further expansion of relations between the analytical structures of the two countries.
