Uzbekistan – Germany Intergovernmental Working Group Session
Tashkent hosted the second session of Uzbekistan – Germany Intergovernmental Working Group on cooperation in agriculture.
Issues of further developing bilateral cooperation in agriculture and food were discussed at the meeting co-chaired by the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev and State Secretary – Deputy Minister of the Federal Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Germany Michael Stübgen.
In 2018, the trade turnover between the two countries increased by 25 percent and exceeded 770 million USD. Trade turnover in agriculture amounted to 27 million dollars.
There are more than 20 enterprises with participation of German capital in the domestic agriculture. In addition, cooperation in agro-education is strengthening between the two countries. In particular, a joint program for training personnel in agricultural management is developed between Tashkent State Agrarian University and Germany’s Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Science.
At the meeting, proposals were made to strengthen cooperation in agriculture and food industry, education, animal husbandry, olericulture, seed production and beekeeping.
The Minister of Agriculture of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khojayev emphasized that the upcoming joint projects will yield positive results in the future.
A number of agreements on cooperation in agriculture were signed.
