Uzbekistan delegation visited France
The delegation led by Director of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Vladimir Norov visited France on September 26-27, 2018, on a working visit, during which negotiations were held with representatives of the Parliament and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of France, as well as the European Parliament.
A roundtable discussion was organized jointly with the Institute of European Perspective and Security Studies and the National School of Administration of France. The parties discussed implementation of the Action Strategy on five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, current process of regional cooperation in Central Asia, as well as prospects for further deepening Uzbekistan – France relations.
At the meeting, the reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in such key areas as liberalization of economy and foreign exchange market, modernization of industry, support for small and medium-sized business, improvement of judicial and law enforcement systems, establishment of an open dialogue between government and society were highly appreciated.
French representatives noted the high level of political dialogue and development dynamics of Uzbekistan – France relations in various spheres.
Taking this into account, the French side expresses great hope for the upcoming visit of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev to France. Importance is given to achieving concrete results in trade-economic sphere. As expected, the planned high-level negotiations will open a new milestone in relations between the two countries.
Following the roundtable discussion, leading research centers of Uzbekistan signed cooperation memorandums with the Institute of European Perspective and Security Studies, National School of Administration of France and Eurocontinent Analytical Center.
