Uzbekistan delegation held meetings in Tokyo
Inter-parliamentary forum “Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan – the Parliament of Japan” and Uzbekistan – Japan symposium “A new course of democratic reforms and transformations on five priority areas of the Action Strategy of Uzbekistan. Uzbekistan – Japan cooperation prospects” were held in the Parliament of Japan within the framework of the visit of the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan S.Safayev.
More than 100 people representing official, leading business and research circles of Japan took part at the events.
Views were exchanged on the state and prospects of cooperation between the legislative bodies of the two countries. An agreement was reached on further expanding ties, intensifying cooperation between the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan and Cooperation Group with Japan in the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan, including on development of the issue of organizing a regular meeting of the Inter-parliamentary forum in Uzbekistan in 2019.
Participants of the symposium were informed about the current development of Uzbekistan, large-scale reforms carried out under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, priorities of domestic and foreign policy of the country within the framework of Development Strategy.
Japanese experts and participants of the events held in Tokyo emphasized the strategic importance of Uzbekistan for foreign policy and foreign economic interests of Japan and expressed their readiness to contribute to further gradual deepening of strategic partnership of the two countries.
Uzbekistan delegation also held bilateral negotiations with representatives of the Japanese Parliamentary League of Friendship with Uzbekistan, the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, Japan External Trade Organization.
