Uzbekistan delegation led by the Special Representative of the President for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev attended the eighth ministerial conference of the Forum “Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process”, in Istanbul, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

The conference was attended by representatives of 35 states (participants, partners) and 10 international organizations.

Presidents of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Afghanistan Mohammad Ashraf Ghani addressed the opening ceremony of the event.

Following the discussions, the Declaration of the eighth ministerial conference of the Forum “Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process” was adopted, as well as updated Implementation Plans in six areas of “Confidence Building Measures”, as well as reforming the “Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process” forum, were approved.

The final document expresses the willingness of the member countries and partners of HA-IP to continue to contribute to the efforts of the Government of Afghanistan to establish a long-term peace by advancing the inter-Afghan peace process, achieving socio-economic development and integration into regional economic ties.

Following the event, the next chairmanship in the forum “Heart of Asia – Istanbul Process” was transferred to Tajikistan.
