Uzbekistan delegation attends the 7th International meeting of the CBRN Centres of Excellence
Brussels hosted the 7th International meeting of the CBRN Centres of Excellence (CoE), which was attended by Uzbekistan delegation led by Acting Chairman of the State Committee of Industrial Safety of the Republic of Uzbekistan Bakhtiyor Gulyamov.
The 10th regional meeting of member countries of the Centers of Excellence for Central Asia, Mongolia, Afghanistan and Pakistan with the secretariat in the city of Tashkent was held within the framework of the event.
At the meeting, the sides summed up the results of Project 53 “Strengthening National Legal Framework and Provision of Specialized Training on Bio-Safety and Bio-Security in Central Asian Countries”.
Region’s countries also discussed the implementation of another Project 65 “Strengthening Chemical and Biological Waste Management in Central Asian Countries for Improved Security and Safety Risk Mitigation”. It was noted that the evaluation of regional threats from chemical and biological waste and adoption of measures for their elimination were carried out within the framework of this project worth 5 million euros.
Following the event, an agreement was reached to begin the development of the Regional action plan in Central Asia for implementation of the UN Security Council Resolution 1540 to prohibit manufacture, acquire, possess, develop, transport, transfer or use nuclear, chemical, biological weapons, and delivery means.
