Delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the FMs meeting of Member States of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

On September 23, 2019, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov attended the FMs meeting of Member States of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence-Building Measures in Asia (CICA).

According to Uzbekistan MFA, at the meeting, participants discussed a wide range of issues of regional and international security, ensuring sustainable economic development, cultural-humanitarian cooperation, as well as situation in Afghanistan.

In his speech, the head of Uzbekistan delegation noted that in recent years CICA has become a full-fledged international platform for dialogue to create a common and indivisible security space in Asia.

The Minister also congratulated the Tajik side on successful chairmanship in the organization and expressed support for CICA Action Plan for 2020, which provides for holding international conferences on countering youth radicalization.

It was emphasized that future, security, sustainable development and wellbeing of our continent depend directly on how we raise the younger generation. In this regard, Abdulaziz Kamilov called for joint efforts to develop and adopt the UN International Convention on Youth Rights, the purpose of which is to create favorable conditions for harmonious development and self-realization of youth.

In conclusion, the Minister expressed readiness to support further efforts on jointly building confidence and finding mutually beneficial solutions that will serve to achieve common noble goals – ensuring peace, stability and prosperity in Asia.

Other issues on CICA agenda were also considered at the meeting.
