UNESCO Director-General visits Bukhara
Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay visited Bukhara on August 27.
Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) Audrey Azoulay visited Bukhara on August 27.
UNESCO Director-General accompanied by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A. Abdukhakimov and Bukhara region’s khokim U. Barnoyev visited the ancient fortress Ark. The high-distinguished guest was interested in exhibits of Bukhara State Museum-Reserve, which testify to rich history of Uzbek people.
Mrs. Audrey Azoulay also became familiar with Poyi Kalon complex, including, Ismail Somoni, Minorai Kalon mausoleums, Mir Arab madrasah, Masjidi Kalon mosque and Ulugbek madrasah.
Handicrafters of ancient Bukhara also became world famous. UNESCO Director-General during the sightseeing of the city showed great interest in handicrafters products.
Mrs. Audrey Azoulay also visited the Jewish synagogue, which has a 400-year history. The guest was impressed by the fact that all conditions are created for worshiping religious rituals by Jews.
