The United States will assist in development of the capital market
Delegation of the Ministry of Finance and the U.S. Embassy met with the leadership of the Capital Markets Development Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis Sadik Safayev noted that the capital market is one of the priority areas in development of the financial infrastructure and plays a key role in the country’s economy.
Director of the agency Atabek Nazirov shared information on the status of the capital market, obstacles to its development and the integrated development of the financial architecture with participation of all key players, including the Ministry of Finance and the Central Bank of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Senior Special Counsel at US Securities and Exchange Commission Erin McCartney expressed her willingness to support initiatives of the agency and provide technical assistance in implementing the Capital Market Development Strategy for 2020-2025.
Following the meeting, the parties agreed on long-term cooperation in development of the capital market and the financial market of Uzbekistan, as well as on signing a memorandum during the upcoming visit of Uzbekistan delegation to the United States from July 16 to 23.
