The IAEA is ready to assist Uzbekistan in development of nuclear energy

Acting Chairman of the committee B. Gulamov noted that the visit of the delegation is a good opportunity to exchange views on mutual cooperation issues.
The sides discussed the implementation of Uzbekistan’s national programs within the framework of technical cooperation with the IAEA and plans for development of relations in nuclear energy.
Ana Raffo-Kayado expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and confirmed the readiness of the IAEA to assist the Republic of Uzbekistan in development of nuclear infrastructure, training and retraining personnel in this area.
The IAEA delegation is expected to visit the Ministry of Health, the Institute of Nuclear Physics of the Academy of Sciences, the Uzatom Agency, Tashkent city and Bukhara regional branches of the Republican Specialized Scientific and Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology, Samarkand State University.
National technical cooperation projects that are being implemented and planned to be executed in cooperation with the IAEA will be discussed at the negotiations.
