On December 14, 2019, Uzbekistan delegation led by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilkhom Nematov attended the meeting of deputy foreign ministers of Central Asia, in Tashkent.

Such meetings have been held annually since 2008 at the initiative of the United Nations Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia (UNRCCA).

The UNRCCA delegation was led by the Special Representative of the United Nations Secretary-General, the Head of the UNRCCA Natalia Gherman. The event was attended by the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Nuran Niyazaliev, deputy heads of foreign affairs agencies of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Ashikbayev, Tajikistan – Muzaffar Huseynzoda, Turkmenistan – Vepa Hajiev and Afghanistan – Naheed Esar.

At the meeting, the parties considered current issues of regional policy and security, exchanged views on events and trends affecting Central Asia, the state and prospects of cooperation with Afghanistan, discussed the results of the UNRCCA activity in the current year and outlined plans for cooperation for 2020.
