Scale of mutually beneficial and promising projects will expand
A roundtable on “Public-private partnership in the Republic of Uzbekistan” with participation of EBRD experts was held at the Ministry of Finance.
Mechanisms of practical cooperation between the government of Uzbekistan and the bank in development of public-private partnership in the country were discussed at the event. It was attended by senior officials of the ministries of finance, economy, health, specialists of state committees for investment, assistance to privatized enterprises and development of competition, roads, Uzbekistan Airways and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
At the event, a presentation was held on “Public-private partnership: conditions for successful implementation”. Participants were informed about the main tasks of using public-private partnership, conditions for successful fundraising and the process of preparing and implementing projects in this direction.
At the event, the EBRD proposed to establish an agency that will deal with public-private partnership issues. The need for the organization of this agency in the system of the Ministry of Finance was noted. At present, such agencies are organized jointly with the EBRD and are successfully operating in developed countries.
Views were exchanged on accelerating implementation of public-private partnership, consistent implementation of joint projects.
The delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development also held bilateral negotiations in a number of ministries and agencies of Uzbekistan.
