On January 7, Tashkent hosted a roundtable discussion on “Uzbekistan – Japan: opportunities for expanding cooperation during the fourth industrial revolution”.

The event was organized in cooperation with the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations, the Development Strategy Center. It was attended by specialists from the Center for Economic Research and Reforms under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and the Center for Research Initiatives “Mano”.

At the meeting, experts emphasized that relations with Japan have acquired a systemic, multifaceted character and are developing in the spirit of mutual respect and taking into account bilateral interests.

When discussing cooperation in “Japan + Central Asia” format, experts emphasized that Japan supports the regional policy of Uzbekistan to create a reliable environment and good neighborly spirit in Central Asia. Japan will not spare its help to Uzbekistan and other countries of the region for liberalizing the economy, uniting the region into a single, large economic zone and for entering other markets.

Participants of the meeting expressed their unanimous opinion that in the context of serious transformations taking place in the world and in relations between countries, the development of comprehensive cooperation with Japan meets its strategic interests.
