The world community celebrates 20 May as World Metrology Day.

The integration of this country’s economy into the world economic system, the improving of the effective legislative basis so that it conforms to international standards, the supply of more locally-made products to world markets and the creation of law-based foundations for ensuring their competitiveness are priority areas of the state’s policy.

Metrology branches are to be set up in 19 districts to create conveniences for the population. It is envisaged that 12 centres will obtain international accreditation.

In cooperation with local hokimiyats (governorates), a timetable has been worked out for the gradual creation of management systems,” says Aziz Rasulov, chief of a department of the republican testing and certification centre.
