The Senate hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev with a delegation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation led by the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov.

On May 18, the Senate hosted a meeting of the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan Sodik Safoyev with a delegation of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation led by the Deputy Speaker of the Federation Council Ilyas Umakhanov.

Issues of further strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, including within the framework of international parliamentary structures were discussed at the meeting.

The parties emphasized that relations between the parliaments of the two countries reached a new, more fruitful level. The role and importance of the parliament in development of a democratic society and promotion of reforms in both the political and socio-economic life of both countries also increases.

Russian parliamentarians noted the activity of Uzbekistan in the international political arena, sincerely thanked and praised the contribution of the President of Uzbekistan in development of parliamentary and bilateral relations between Russia and Uzbekistan.

Within the framework of the visit, Russian senators will attend the V International Forum of graduates of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, to be held on May 19 in Tashkent.
