Meeting at the United States Congress
On July 17, 2019, Uzbekistan delegation led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdulaziz Kamilov held talks with Congressman Trent Kelly, Co-Chair of Caucus on Uzbekistan of the House of Representatives of the United States Congress.
At the meeting, a wide range of issues on Uzbekistan – American bilateral agenda was discussed.
Special attention was paid to discussing the ways of further intensifying inter-parliamentary relations, organizing visits of Congress members to Uzbekistan, studying the best practices of the United States in lawmaking by Uzbek parliamentarians. The parties exchanged views on enhancing instruments of parliamentary diplomacy.
Congressman Trent Kelly welcomed the participation of Uzbekistan delegation in the second Ministerial to Advance Religious Freedom, which is being held in the U.S. capital these days. The Congressman praised the Government’s policy on protecting the rights of believers and expressed readiness to assist in deepening dialogue in this direction with the Congress.
Trent Kelly is ready to promote cooperation between businesspeople of Uzbekistan and his state in such areas as cotton growing, poultry farming, water management, fisheries and textiles. He expressed readiness to assist in development of cooperation of the country with other states, the legislators of which are represented in Caucus on Uzbekistan.
A number of regional issues were also discussed at the meeting.
