On October 24, meeting of the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan K.Komilov with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Mami was held within the framework of the upcoming twelfth meeting of chairmen of Supreme Courts of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

On October 24, meeting of the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan K.Komilov with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan K.Mami was held within the framework of the upcoming twelfth meeting of chairmen of Supreme Courts of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

At the meeting, consistent development of mutually beneficial and large-scale cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Republic of Kazakhstan in all directions, including in judicial and legal sphere, was noted. Agreements reached during the regular meetings of the heads of our states are of great importance in this.

It was emphasized that in accordance with the Strategy of actions on five priority areas of development of the Republic of Uzbekistan in 2017-2021, adopted on the initiative of the President of our country Shavkat Mirziyoyev, large-scale reforms are being carried out on further development of a legal democratic state, a fair civil society in our country, ensuring true independence of the judicial authority, reliable protection of citizens’ rights and freedoms.

Decrees of the Head of our state “On measures of further reforming the judicial and legal system, strengthening guarantees of reliable protection of the rights and freedoms of citizens” of October 21, 2016 and “On measures of fundamental improvement of the structure and effectiveness of the judicial system of the Republic of Uzbekistan” of February 21, 2017 serve as an important legal basis for further expansion of the scope of activities in this direction.

Within the framework of the event, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed between the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kazakhstan. This document will serve to strengthen the legal framework for cooperation and mutual understanding between the highest judicial authorities of the two countries, to increase the effectiveness of efforts on ensuring the rule of law.

Within the framework of the memorandum, it is envisaged to implement activities related to promotion of judicial and legal reforms through scientific, analytical and information support for the improvement of the judicial system as a key institution in protection of human rights and legitimate interests.

Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Uzbekistan K.Komilov also met with the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Tajikistan Sh.Shokhiyon and the Chairman of the Supreme Court of the Republic of Kyrgyzstan A.Tokbayev, who arrived in our country for participation at the twelfth meeting of chairmen of Supreme Courts of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.

During the events, the guests were provided with information on successive reforms that are being implemented in Uzbekistan on further democratization and liberalization of the judicial and legal system, increasing the effectiveness of activities of the judicial, law enforcement and regulatory bodies. The sides expressed readiness for further strengthening of mutual cooperation, implementation of joint projects, regular exchange of experience.
