This year marks the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary.

This year marks the 35th anniversary of the adoption of the Basic Principles on the Independence of the Judiciary. In this regard, Tashkent hosted an international conference.

The event was attended by judges of the Constitutional and Supreme Courts of the Republic of Uzbekistan, representatives of the Senate and the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, ministries and agencies, experts from the United States, Slovenia, France, Croatia, Kazakhstan and South Korea.

National and international experience in ensuring the independence of the judiciary was considered, issues of implementation of international standards were discussed at the conference.

Director of the National Human Rights Centre of the Republic of Uzbekistan Akmal Saidov informed about the essence and significance of these recommendations and noted the need for carrying out relevant activities within their framework.

Following the event, organized by the Supreme Judicial Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Higher School of Judges operating under it, proposals will be developed for further improving legislation in the judicial sphere and strengthening guarantees for the independence of the judiciary.
