Tashkent hosted presentation of a new joint project of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection, the United Nations Development Programme and the Global Environment Facility aimed at protecting the ozone layer.
According to the First Deputy Chairman of the State Committee of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Ecology and Environmental Protection Ibratjon Karimov, strategic, legislative, institutional and technological measures are being consistently implemented in Uzbekistan on fulfilling commitments made under the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer. The use of substances depleting the ozone layer, in particular hydrochlorofluorocarbons, is being terminated step by step.
In addition, a joint project on drastically reducing HCFCs use was implemented in 2013-2018 with the financial support of UNDP and the Global Environment Facility.
At the event, participants received detailed information about the project plans for the coming year and its organizational structure.
