Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev visited Hairatan and Mazar-e Sharif.

Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev visited Hairatan and Mazar-e Sharif, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Meetings were organized with the Governor of Balkh Province Mohammad Ishaq Rahguzar, Mayor of Hairatan Abdul Rauf Amiri, leadership of the Customs Administration of Balkh Province and Border Service of Hairatan checkpoint.

The sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached in November during the first meeting of the Joint Working Commission between Balkh Province and Surkhandarya region.

A meeting was held with the Balkh’s Head of the Afghan Chamber of Commerce and Industries Arash Younis with participation of heads of large Afghan companies.

Balkh Province administration and business circles of the Northern provinces expressed gratitude to the leadership of Uzbekistan for active participation in international efforts for peaceful settlement of Afghan problem, paying attention to the issues of assistance in economic reconstruction of Afghanistan, as well as training of Afghan national personnel.

The sides discussed the issues of expanding trade-economic cooperation between the two countries, development of cross-border trade, as well as the identification and elimination of existing barriers.

Ways of expanding the range of products imported from Uzbekistan and prospects for attracting their investments in projects implemented in Uzbekistan were discussed at the meeting with the leadership of Balkh Chamber of Commerce and Industry and representatives of Afghan companies.
