Tashkent State University of Law hosted an international roundtable discussion on the introduction of English Corporate Law in Uzbekistan.
The event, dedicated to the exchange of experience and opinions on the trends and basic principles of modern English Corporate Law, relevant issues of their application in Uzbekistan, was attended by experts from international law and consulting firms, and professors.
English law incorporates the best features of the legal system of several countries. It is used when creating joint ventures, attracting investments. Flexibility, transparency, the ability to forecast, and most importantly, speed are the best features of this system. Laws should serve the interests of business, and English law provides this opportunity.
The practice of applying English law has been established in China, Kazakhstan, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore and other countries. In particular, the experience of Astana International Financial Centre in implementing English law is noteworthy.
At the event, participants exchanged views on the role of English Corporate Law, its flexibility in streamlining the activities of multinational companies in the context of global expansion of corporations, and on the features of English contract law, which became the basis for the popularization of English law in the world of international business. At the same time, proposals and opinions were voiced on the establishment of a special legal regime on the territory of Navoi Free Economic Zone based on English standards.
Particular attention was paid to prospects of introducing English Corporate Law in Uzbekistan. It was noted that its use will further increase the investment attractiveness of the country and may be an important step in resolving potential conflicts with investors.
