Friendship of literatures – friendship of people
International scientific-practical conference organized in Tashkent on “Problems of studying and disseminating of Uzbek classical and contemporary literature in the international scale” attracted special attention aimed at ensuring further development of national literature, increasing its prestige at the international level, as well as strengthening literary ties with people of the world.
Writers and poets, translators, literary scholars, literary critics, young creative figures from 25 countries of the world were invited to the conference held in cooperation with the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi, the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Special Education, the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan and other partner organizations.
Participants of the conference first visited the Alley of Writers and the Union of Writers of Uzbekistan, thoroughly became familiar with the large-scale activities carried out in the country on further development of national literature, the activities of this creative organization, the work of which is now adjusted in accordance with modern requirements. Participants laid flowers at the monument to Navoi on the square in front of Tashkent State University of Uzbek Language and Literature named after Alisher Navoi.
The international conference began its work in this university.
Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan N.Yuldoshev read the welcome message of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the participants of the international conference.
As it was noted at the conference, which is held for the first time in the country on such an important theme and format, the life itself requires an exchange of views between the representatives of the sphere of literature of different people. The Union of Writers is carrying out systematic work on identifying the best examples of the national literature for translating them into foreign languages. At the same time, the issue of translating the best samples of world literature into Uzbek, enhancing the creative skills of young translators, remains urgent.
A video on activities being carried out in the country on further development of national literature was shown at the conference. Participants, divided into sections, discussed in detail the current issues of studying and popularizing Uzbek classical and contemporary literature abroad, translating it into other languages, studying international best practices in training specialists in the sphere of literary translation, strengthening international creative ties.
Excursion to sights, libraries and museums, historical places of Tashkent made a great impression on participants. A special atmosphere was given to the event by various creative meetings and conversations, an exhibition of books, poetry tournaments.
The State Advisor to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.Sultanov, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan A.Abdukhakimov attended the international conference.
