Equal rights and opportunities for women and men are guaranteed in Uzbekistan
The Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe held an event in Tashkent, which was attended by senators, representatives of a number of state and non-state structures.
The Commission on Gender Equality of the Republic of Uzbekistan jointly with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe held an event in Tashkent, which was attended by senators, representatives of a number of state and non-state structures.
At the event, main attention was paid to factors contributing to the commission of offenses among socially vulnerable segments of the population. It was noted that in Uzbekistan, ensuring the rights and interests of women, increasing their economic, social and political activity, protecting them from various forms of oppression and violence are important areas of the state policy.
Moreover, issues of prevention of extremism and radicalism, the role of gender predisposition in the fight against them and best practices in this direction were discussed.
Participants of the event became familiar with the work carried out by Uzbekistan Women’s Committee on early prevention of crime among women through the implementation of measures for individual work with people predisposed to commit crimes, social rehabilitation and adaptation of women released from penal institutions.
Following the conversation, recommendations were given on implementation of joint initiatives in preventing and combating transnational crimes committed by women.
