Entrepreneurs’ rights under reliable protection

In Termiz, a seminar has taken place on the subject of “Business ombudsman – a reliable protector of entrepreneurs”.

The seminar was arranged by the committee for democratic institutions, nongovernmental organizations and citizens’ self-governing bodies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis (parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the hokimiyat (governorate) of Surhondaryo Region and the local directorate of the Commerce and Industry Chamber of Uzbekistan.

Representatives of the Region’s hokimiyat, officers of law enforcement agencies and supervisory bodies, entrepreneurs and journalists attended the seminar.

The event was devoted to explaining the essence and significance of the law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Commissioner for the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurial entities. It was said at the event that special attention being paid to the development of the small business and private entrepreneurship sector of the country was giving weighty results.

In this country, in entrepreneurial entities’ relations with state bodies, law enforcement agencies and supervisory departments the principle of the prevalence of the rights of entrepreneurial entities is observed.

The law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on Commissioner for the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurial entities creates additional guarantees of state protection for the introduction of new mechanisms for fruitful cooperation between entrepreneurial entities and state bodies, ensuring the observance of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurial entities.

“This law defines law-based foundations and guarantees of Commissioner for the protection of the rights and legitimate interests of entrepreneurial entities, his rights and obligations and a procedure for looking into complaints and appeals from entrepreneurial entities. It also specifies ways of interaction among state bodies, entrepreneurial entities and civil society institutions. This new law encourages the work of entrepreneurial entities and prevents the violation of their rights and legitimate interests. All these help to develop our country’s national economy, to solve unemployment problems, to raise the living standards and to strengthen social stability,” says T.Norboyev, a member of the committee for democratic institutions, nongovernmental organizations and citizens’ self-governing bodies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis.

Today more than 11 thousand small businesses are registered in the Region. About 1,400 of them started their work this year. This sector accounts for nearly 70 per cent of the gross regional product.

“Our enterprise started its work by servicing cars. This year we used credits from commercial banks to bring in and set up modern equipment and started the production of bakery products. Now 15 people are provided with jobs. The establishment of the institution of Commissioner for the protection of our rights and interests is indicative of care being provided for us,” says the chief of the “Zohid Abdulatif” LLC in Sherobod District, A.Mamadaminov.

During the seminar, there was an exchange of opinions on the further development of the small business and private entrepreneurship sector. Answers were given to questions that were of interest to entrepreneurs.
