Draft Law on the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan to be improved
The roundtable discussion, organized by the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan on “Foreign policy and improving legislation in diplomacy”, was attended by deputies of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, responsible employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, experts from the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent State University of Law.
It was emphasized that priorities of the national parliament are to increase its role in strengthening the country’s international image, improve the normative-legal framework of foreign policy, foreign economic activity and the legal framework of international cooperation.
Parliament has a special place in ensuring the effectiveness of Uzbekistan’s international policy. Thus, in the State Program “Year of Active Investments and Social Development”, the issue of the need for strengthening the role of parliamentary diplomacy in solving important issues of international importance is fixed by a separate paragraph. Inter-parliamentary relations, which are an important component of interstate relations, have a great influence on the dynamics of development, content and prospects of modern international relations.
Experts noted that through members of parliament, the information on democratic and socio-economic reforms implemented in Uzbekistan is being communicated to the wider international community.
At the event, suggestions and recommendations were given for improving the draft Law “On the Diplomatic Service of the Republic of Uzbekistan”, developed in cooperation with the committee and relevant ministries.
