Current population issues are discussed
On July 11, Tashkent hosted a joint event with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) on the occasion of World Population Day.

It was attended by members of parliament, officials of ministries and agencies, international and non-governmental organizations.

Uzbekistan's achievements in promoting the rights and choice for all, further plans were presented, commitments to further implement the Programme of Action of the International Conference on Population and Development, held in Cairo in 1994, necessary to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals, were discussed at the meeting.

Reports on “Ensuring the rights and opportunities of choice for all”, “Informing the population on reproductive health, rights, family planning”, “Census of Uzbekistan’s population”, “Healthy youth – healthy society” and others were heard at the event. Participants exchanged views on such current issues as early marriages, family disintegration, expansion of labor and social rights of women, and increasing social activity of youth.
