Consumer rights reliably protectedA conference of the council of the consumer rights protection societies federation of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston has taken place to discuss results of monitoring conducted by the federation and its town and district societies at trading and services facilities and marketplaces.
The event was attended by specialists of this sphere, representatives of the wider public and workers of mass media. It was said at the event that special attention was paid in this country to protecting consumer rights and to raising the law culture of the population.
The work of the medical associations of the town of Nukus, Chimboy, Shumanay, Takhtakopir, Khojayli, Qonghirot, Kegeyli and Qanlikol Districts and conditions and conveniences created for consumers there were examined. Such shortcomings as a shortage of clean drinking water at some places, inadequate supplies of medicines, some medical workers’ rough manners and the quality of dishes not meeting the specified requirements at some hospitals were discovered.
“Actually, we are all consumers. We need precise information about guarantees of the quality of products and services . For this purpose, our federation is stepping up awareness efforts among consumers, especially young people,” says Qumar Bekniyazova, a specialist of the consumer rights protection societies federation of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston.
518 appeals came to the consumer rights protection societies federation of the Republic of Qoraqalpoghiston in the first half of this year, and 499 of them were solved in consumers’ favour, and nearly 129 million soms worth of refunds were secured for consumers.
At the event, there was an exchange of views on ensuring the supremacy of law in this country, protecting consumer rights and improving the services sphere.
