CERR hosts a meeting with the World Bank mission
Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR) under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the World Bank Group.
Center for Economic Research and Reform (CERR) under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with representatives of the World Bank Group. The delegation is led by Advisor to the World Bank’s Managing Director & Senior Vice President for Operations Sandeep Mahajan.
At the meeting, guests were informed about ongoing research conducted by researchers. It was noted that large-scale work is underway to assess the impact and a detailed analysis of the integration process within the framework of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
The center’s experts presented their assessments of the possible consequences of Uzbekistan’s joining the EAEU, as well as informed about the impact of trade policy changes on both macroeconomic indicators of Uzbekistan and individual sectors.
In turn, members of the World Bank mission expressed particular interest in this study. At the same time, the guests noted that the latest changes and reforms implemented in Uzbekistan to improve public administration are very important and timely.
At the meeting, options were also discussed for maintaining reforms in Uzbekistan, initiated in 2017, over the next 3-5 years.
CERR employees gave their suggestions on key areas of reforms of the government of Uzbekistan in 2020, in particular, on trade liberalization, macroeconomic and microeconomic development, macroeconomic policies, investments, infrastructure and socio-economic development of the regions, development of competition, further development strategy of agriculture, services and others.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on establishing further close cooperation between the parties on the basis of the CERR research program in 2020.
