Center for Economic Research and Reforms (CERR) under the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted a meeting with the Mission of the International Trade Centre UNCTAD/WTO.

ITC representatives confirmed their readiness to fully implement the agreement on providing Uzbekistan with necessary technical assistance upon accession to the WTO. In particular, experts noted that this year the International Trade Centre launches two large projects funded by the UN and WTO. The projects will last five years. Regulators, the public sector and business community will be involved.

According to CERR, Uzbekistan National Project aims to provide technical assistance to Uzbekistan upon accession to the WTO. Special attention is paid to increasing the institutional capacity of national ministries and agencies involved in negotiations on Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO.

The Central Asian Regional Project aims to facilitate trade between Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Turkmenistan.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to develop further cooperation and conduct a joint study on the impact of Uzbekistan’s accession to the WTO on economic sectors.
