A roundtable discussion on prospects for development of long-term regional cooperation was held in Tashkent following the second Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The event was organized by the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan in conjunction with the Development Strategy Center.

The event was attended by scientists of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies, the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, the Center for Economic Research and Reforms, the Development Strategy Center, the Center for Political Initiatives “Mano”, the Academy of Sciences, professors of universities, as well as independent experts.

Participants of the event discussed the significance of the second meeting of the leaders of the Central Asian states in Tashkent.

It was noted that thanks to the constructive and pragmatic policies of the states of the region, today there are all necessary conditions for progressive, sustainable development of bilateral and multilateral relations in Central Asia.

Tashkent meeting made it possible to lay the foundation for promising directions for further development of trade-economic and investment relations, transport and communication issues, agriculture, industrial cooperation, ecology and environmental protection, energy, tourism, science, culture and sports.

Participants paid special attention to the discussion of cooperation issues in transport. They also noted that development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation is a powerful driving force in strengthening interstate cooperation in the region.
