Belt and Road: Presentation of Uzbekistan’s initiatives in China
Delegation consisting of representatives of the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies under the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Information and Analytical Center for International Relations under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan visited China.
During the visit to China Institute of International Studies at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the People’s Republic of China, a presentation was held on “Belt and Road: New opportunities for Uzbekistan”.
During the presentation, Uzbekistan’s delegation presented the priorities of cooperation within the framework of the Belt and Road Initiative on development of transport corridors, promotion of smart agriculture, creation of a joint center for agro-innovations, and intensification of tourist exchanges.
Delegation of Uzbekistan held a number of meetings and negotiations at the leading research centers of China – the Euro-Asian Social Development Research Institute at the State Council of China, the China Institutes of Contemporary International Relations and the Institute of East European, Russian and Central Asian Studies at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences.
At the meetings, the current state of Uzbekistan – China relations was analyzed, proposals for further development of strategic partnership were considered.
Suggestions were made for further strengthening cooperation between think tanks of the two countries.
Agreements were reached on signing a Memorandum of Cooperation between the Institute for Strategic and Regional Studies and China Institute of International Studies, internships for Uzbekistan experts in China, organizing joint conferences and roundtable discussions on implementation of Uzbekistan’s initiatives within the framework of Belt and Road Initiative.
