Ambassadors at the presentation of the “Hall of Ambassadors”An event dedicated to the completion of the restoration of the wall paintings “Hall of Ambassadors” dating back to the VII-VIII centuries was held in Afrosiab Museum in Samarkand, where unique exhibits about the history of the city are collected.
The event was attended by senior officials of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Institute of Archeological Research named after Y.Gulamov of the Academy of Sciences of Uzbekistan, representatives of the embassies of France, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States in our country, Samarkand regional and city khokimiyats, art historians.
These wall drawings, discovered in 1965 during archaeological research in the ruins of Afrosiab of the city of Samarkand, took their place in the museum halls as unique historical exhibits. They are of great interest not only among our compatriots, but also tourists from various countries, historians, archaeologists, art historians.
Taking into account the impact of time on the quality of wall drawings, in 2014, the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan with the assistance of France, South Korea, Switzerland, the United States and the UNESCO office in our country, began the restoration of the exhibit.
Participants of the event got acquainted with the results of the restoration. They were told about the discovery and its significance in studying the world history.
