Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Head of ODIHR Election Assessment Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Cayetana de Zulueta Owtram.

On 26 December 2019, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov received the Head of ODIHR Election Assessment Mission of the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), Cayetana de Zulueta Owtram, Uzbekistan MFA reports.

Cayetana de Zulueta Owtram expressed her gratitude for the invitation to the elections and warm welcome that the mission staff felt in every region, at every polling station.

It was noted that for the first time in Uzbekistan, the OSCE delegation to the parliamentary elections was represented in an expanded format and included 316 observers from 37 member states of the organization, including 271 from the ODIHR and 45 from the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly.

Special attention was paid to the statement of the ODIHR Mission released on December 23 on the preliminary results and conclusions of the observation of the parliamentary elections in Uzbekistan. In the document, it is noted that the election campaign was held in line with large-scale reforms carried out by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The parties noted the positive results of joint activities on improving the electoral legislation and confirmed their readiness for further cooperation aimed at development of the democratic process in Uzbekistan.
