A child is joy of family

A round table discussion on “Legal basis for maintaining reproductive health of the population: practice and international experience”, organized by the Committee on the Issues of Healthcare of Citizens of the Lower Chamber in conjunction with the Commission on the Issues of Family and Women, was attended by deputies, specialists of the Ministry of Health, the Republican Specialized Scientific Practical Medical Center of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Republican Center for Reproductive Health of the Population, scientists, experts, lawyers and representatives of private medical sector.

The legal basis for reproductive healthcare and the need for its improvement, success and problems in this sphere, the practice of using assisted reproductive technologies and international experience were widely discussed. The national legislation should reflect the rights to use assisted reproductive technologies in addressing problems of inability to have children. At the same time, the use of assisted reproductive technologies, their permitted types, the procedure for use by public or private medical institutions, licensing and accreditation should be provided on a legislative basis.

At the event it was noted that in implementation of the policy of protecting the health of citizens, the issue of training highly qualified medical personnel, including specialists with a scientific degree, is extremely relevant. There is also a high demand for ordinary specialists in such areas as reproductive medicine, embryology, andrology. To address these problems, it is important to improve legislation, develop, along with public private medical institutions, raise the quality of medical services in a competitive environment, and develop medical tourism.
