Oltin Qalam (Golden Pen) award announcedUzA, 8 February 2010, 15:15
The annual Oltin Qalam (Golden Pen) has been announced in Uzbekistan. The contest has been organized by the Creative Union of Journalists and the International Journalists Training Center in conjuction with the National Electronic Media Association, Independent Media Support Fund, National TV and Radio Company and the Culture and Sports Ministry. The organizing committee of the fifth national award held its session in Tashkent on Friday. The participants said the contest annually attracts a large number of journalists. This year, the list of nominations consists of the grand prize and four main prizes for TV, radio, press and online media. Besides, there are 14 special nominations, ranging from the contribution to journalism development to best press service and best foreign report about Uzbekistan. The prize fund of the Oltin Qalam award exceeds UZS 113 million, which is UZS 29 million more than the last year’s figure. The solemn ceremony of awarding the contest winners will be held on 3 May, which is the World Press Freedom Day.
