On 21 October 1989, state language status was given to the Uzbek language as one of the main bulwarks of national values. The law of the Republic of Uzbekistan on the state language was adopted. In Article 4 of the country’s Constitution, the Uzbek language’s state language status was enshrined. The Uzbek language became a sacred symbol of this independent country and is protected by law.
