The first meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan has kicked off in Tashkent.

The first meeting of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan has kicked off in Tashkent.

The President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attends the event.

The meeting was opened by the Chairman of the Central Election Commission Mirza-Ulugbek Abdusalamov.

The national anthem of the Republic of Uzbekistan was performed.

The Interim Secretariat of the first meeting, the Counting Commission and the Interim Group for Monitoring the use of the electronic counting system were elected, the agenda was approved. The Chairman of the CEC provided information on the results of the elections to the Legislative Chamber.

In accordance with the Regulation of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis, a Council of Representatives of Political Parties has been formed to elect the Speaker of the lower house. At the suggestion of the council, the deputies elected by secret ballot Nurdinjon Ismailov as the Speaker of the Legislative Chamber.

The Head of the state noted the Speaker’s deep knowledge and experience, wished him success in his activities in the parliament.

“You were elected deputies at a historically important time. You must be worthy of this every day, every minute, adopt laws for people and contribute to the wellbeing of the population”, the President said.

Then the chairmanship of the meeting passed to the Speaker. Nurdinjon Ismailov read out the constituent protocols on formation of factions received by the secretariat from the leaders of 5 political parties. Further, factions of political parties have been registered in the Legislative Chamber.

Deputies elected the First Deputy Speaker of the Legislative Chamber Akmal Saidov to the newly established position, and as Deputy Speakers – leader of the faction of the Movement of Entrepreneurs and Businesspeople – Liberal Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Aktam Khaitov, head of the faction of the Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Milliy Tiklanish” Alisher Kadirov, leader of the faction of the Social Democratic Party of Uzbekistan “Adolat” Narimon Umarov, head of the faction of the People’s Democratic Party of Uzbekistan Ulugbek Inoyatov and the head of the faction of the Ecological Party of Uzbekistan Boriy Alikhanov.
