Delegation of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Prime Minister A.Abdukhakimov visits France to hold meetings on strengthening cooperation with UNESCO.During the visit, Uzbekistan’s delegation held talks with the Director of the World Heritage Center Mechtild Rossler and Director of the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) Advisory and Monitoring Unit Regina Durighello. The sides discussed current issues of interaction between Uzbekistan and UNESCO. They also exchanged views on prospects of implementation of joint projects, including development of UNESCO Country program.
In addition, negotiations were held with ambassadors of Indonesia Hotmangaraja Panjaitan, Tanzania – Samwel William Shelukindo and others.
At the meetings with foreign partners, detailed information was provided on reforms implemented in Uzbekistan on preserving priceless monuments of architecture and rich historical-cultural heritage of the nation. It was noted that the Cabinet of Ministers of Uzbekistan adopted a resolution on June 9, 2018 “On protection of territories of the Republic of Uzbekistan included in the UNESCO World Heritage List”. The document approved the roadmap on improvement of protection of territories included in the list, and implementation of recommendations of the World Heritage Committee at UNESCO. Participants were also informed about activities of the Republican interdepartmental working group on development of proposals for improving protection of territories of Uzbekistan included in the World Heritage List.
A number of meetings with ambassadors of foreign states, accredited at UNESCO, and manager of this organization are planned.
