Events dedicated to the unfading memory of the First President of our country Islam Karimov are being held on the days of a wide celebration of the 26th anniversary of independence of Uzbekistan. On August 31, 2017 a majestic monument to the founder of our independent state, the great statesman and politician Islam Karimov was opened in Tashkent. The same ceremony was held on September 2 in Samarkand on the occasion of the opening of the Monument to Islam Karimov.
President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev during his visit to Almazar district of the city of Tashkent on April 21, 2017 gave instructions on reconstruction of the Imam Termizi mosque and proposed to establish the Center for Islamic Culture in Khazrati Imam complex (Hastimam).

On August 28, a videoconference under the chairmanship of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, dedicated to the results of ongoing reforms in the Armed Forces of our country and the execution of urgent tasks in this direction was held in Samarkand.
On August 28, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces Shavkat Mirziyoyev observed the operational and tactical exercises conducted at “Kattakurgon” training ground in accordance with the combat training plan for the troops of the Southwest Special Military District.

On August 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) Taleb Rifai in Samarkand, who is in our country to participate in “Sharq taronalari” International Music Festival and the international conference on “Central Asian Renaissance in the history of world civilization”.
On August 27, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev arrived in Samarkand. The head of our state began his trip to the region from visiting the final resting place of the First President of our country Islam Karimov.
On August 24-25, 2017, the eleventh plenary session of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan was held. It was attended by members of the Cabinet of Ministers, heads of ministries and departments, representatives of other organizations, the mass media.
The competition should include such areas as improvement of housing and communal services, development of social infrastructure, medical institutions, creation of new workplaces, increasing indicators of the average wage. In general, such an initiative and competition between cities will allow to create decent living conditions for people.
