Tashkent to host Uzbekistan and Japan Rectors’ Summit
Delegation of rectors of higher education institutions from Japan led by Vice-Minister of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology of Japan, Hiroyuki Nakamura, arrives in Uzbekistan to participate in this summit.
The Summit of Rectors of Uzbekistan and Japan will kick off on July 8 in Tashkent at Tashkent State University of Economics and the first event will become the Conference of heads of higher education institutions of Uzbekistan and Japan.
The purpose of the Summit of Rectors of Uzbekistan and Japan is to further expand and deepen academic and scientific cooperation, exchange students, improve qualifications of the teaching staff of higher education institutions of both countries, as well as enhance cooperation with leading innovation centers, technology parks and universities of Japan for conducting joint scientific and applied research.
The upcoming Summit of Rectors is expected to be attended by more than 50 representatives from more than 20 higher education institutions of Japan. The event will be attended by rectors of 37 higher education institutions from the Uzbek side.
At the Conference, the parties will discuss prospects for development and expansion of cooperation in technical and engineering areas and humanities. It is also planned to sign a number of agreements between higher education institutions of the two countries.
A trip to Samarkand will be organized for the Japanese delegation within the framework of the Summit. Guests will become familiar with architectural and historical sights of the ancient city. A meeting is planned to be held with the faculty of Samarkand State University.
