Samarkand gathers the followers of Mirzo Ulugbek
On June 19-23, 2018, an International Olympiad in Physics and Astronomy named after Mirzo Ulugbek among 10-11th year students of secondary schools is being held in the city of Samarkand.
On June 19-23, 2018, an International Olympiad in Physics and Astronomy named after Mirzo Ulugbek among 10-11th year students of secondary schools is being held in the city of Samarkand.Representatives of Uzbekistan, Russia, Belarus, Japan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan and Turkmenistan are taking part in the international competition organized at the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev. 45 talented students from these countries are attending the first International Olympiad.
On June 20, participants of the Olympiad visited the observatory and Mirzo Ulugbek museum in Samarkand, laid flowers at the monument to the great astronomer. Guests were given detailed information about the history of creation of these structures, scientific research of our great ancestor on the study of celestial bodies and the unique exhibits in the museum.
The solemn opening ceremony of the International Olympiad took place in the evening, in “Mo’jiza” amphitheater of the city of Samarkand.
The knowledge of participants of the Olympiad, consisting of theoretical and experimental stages, will be evaluated by well-known experts, professors, teachers of education institutions of the CIS countries, and scientists.
Winners will be awarded by the organizing committee with gold, silver and bronze medals, diplomas and souvenirs. Winners of the International Olympiad from Uzbekistan will be admitted to higher education institutions of the country on a preferential basis.
This international Olympiad will be held every two years.
Within the framework of the event, participants will visit historical and cultural sites, become familiar with the way of life and educational process of youth of Uzbekistan, as well as hold various cultural and educational meetings.
On June 21, the first stage of the International Olympiad will be held in Samarkand State University.
