On August 28, 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kuala Lumpur Ravshan Usmanov held talks with Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Mohd Zamruni Khalid.

On August 28, 2019, Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Kuala Lumpur Ravshan Usmanov held talks with Director General of the Institute of Diplomacy and Foreign Relations (IDFR) of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia Mohd Zamruni Khalid.

IDFR was established in 1991 and since 2004 is a training unit of Malaysian Foreign Ministry. Main objective of the Institute is to improve Malaysian diplomats’ skills in international relations, strategic analysis and crisis management, as well as improve their language skills.

According to Uzbekistan MFA, during the talks, the Malaysian side became acquainted with activities of the University of World Economy and Diplomacy. It was particularly noted that the resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan established the Higher School of Diplomacy at this University, which provides retraining and advanced training of employees of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs, Investment and Foreign Trade, other interested ministries and departments involved in foreign policy and foreign economic activity.

Mohd Zamruni Khalid expressed interest in establishing close cooperation between education institutions of the two countries in training and retraining of specialists in foreign policy and economic diplomacy, including on technical assistance program of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia.

Following the talks, agreements were reached on establishment of contacts between IDFR and Higher School of Diplomacy at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy and subsequent exchange of teachers and students of education institutions, organization of special courses for students of Higher School of Diplomacy and employees of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, strengthening cooperation.
